As you might recall, last years’ CIB annual meeting saw a discussion on monitoring and evaluation of programmes of CIB members. In that discussion, the idea arose to organize a peer evaluation for one or more of our programmes, in view of the mixed experiences with external evaluators.

Now available: new CIB report on Monitoring, Evaluation and Learning practice of CIB members

The CIB Working Group proudly presents a new report on Monitoring, Evaluation and Learning (ME&L) practice of CIB members. The reason for this report was to compare the ways in which members integrate these activities in their development cooperation programmes and organization as a whole, to be able to draw lessons learned and learn from each other.

Last August, the Brazilian National Confederation of Municipalities (CNM) and UNDP Art Initiative launched a project aimed at capacitating Brazilian local governments  from all parts of the country to act as true catalysts of change in the implementation process of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development.

CIB publication: comparative analysis of Monitoring & Evaluation systems

Following the exchanges on Monitoring and Evaluation (M&E) during the annual meeting of the CIB Working Group (WG) in the Hague in October 2015, expert Beatriz Sanz Corella was contracted by the CIB WG to develop an analysis and policy recommendations on M&E tools . Based on a survey, a desk review and interviews with CIB members, a comparative analysis of M&E systems in the context of local government capacity building was conducted.

Finding the most efficient model for monitoring and evaluating local government development cooperation programmes

During the annual meeting of the CIB Working Group in the Hague at 1 and 2 October 2015, CIB members have reiterated their wish for a comparative analysis of Monitoring and Evaluation systems of development cooperation programmes. This can help to find the most effective approach for tracking results and impact, supporting the learning process of the local governments while matching the requirements that donors have (in the case of externally funded programmes).
