Conference: "Sustainable Development under Conditions of Conflict and Crisis"

The Department of Public Administration at the Faculty of Law and Public Administration of Birzeit University is organizing a conference on Sustainable Development under Conditions of Conflict and Crisis (war, post War, Occupation and Conflicts).

This conference will help researchers to discuss the possibility of achieving the SDGs under conditions of crisis. It will also attempt to examine possible options for countries and societies living in crisis, conflict and occupation, such as Palestine, to promote their development process and in order not to leave anyone behind.

Join upcoming webinars on LGAs & SDGs and on measuring municipal capacity

Following the succesful webinar on 'cities and countries working in crisis', a new series of webinars will take place in the upcoming months. UCLG and the CIB Working group will facilitate a webinar series (Spanish, English and French) on best practices from LGAs in SDG implementation and reporting (December 2018). In January 2019, the Federation of Canadian Municipalities will lead a second webinar on measuring the capacity of municipal institutions.

HLPF 2018 sees first Local and Regional Governments' Forum

Over 240 local and regional governments representatives, including 70 Mayors and Regional Presidents, carried out joint mobilization at the most recent High-Level Political Forum (HLPF) to convey local perspectives on the localization of the 2030 Agenda, in July 2018. For the first time ever, the HLPF included an all-day meeting of local and regional governments with United Nations high-level representatives, national governments and civil society. 

Contribute to UCLG's GOLD V Report on the localization of the global agendas

During the 2019 High Level Political Forum as well as the UCLG World Congres in Autumn 2019, UCLG will present the 5th report of the Global Observatory on Decentralisation and Local Democracy, also named GOLD V. This report will showcase the current situation of local and regional governments worldwide and their involvement in the localization of the global agendas. To do so, your help and support is highly needed!

CIB members discuss innovative ways to improve their capacity building programmes
