CIB members discuss national voluntary reporting on SDGs

On 28 February, the CIB Working Group secretariat hosted a call on the national voluntary reporting process on the implementation of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), in which several CIB members are engaged. 2017 will see the second round of voluntary reviews, which includes 40 countries.* Main topic of discussion was how to include a local voice and perspective in the national reports.

CNM supports Brazilian municipalities with the localization of SDGs

In Brazil, (newly elected) Mayors are receiving extensive support from the National Confederation of Municipalities of Brazil (CNM) with regard to the localization process of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). After the organization of seminars on Agenda 2030 for Sustainable Development in fall 2016, Mayors have now also received a guide that presents the importance of the SDGs and outlines its relation to the municipal competences.

Toolbox for localizing the SDGs becomes available

In the past months, UCLG has been working to communicate the 2030 Agenda to its members and to support them in “localizing” the SDGs in their communities. Based on the outcomes of the narrative and dialogue developed in 2014 on “Localizing the Post 2015 development Agenda”, the Global Taskforce of Local and Regional Governments, UNDP and UN Habitat decided to continue to join forces for the development of a toolbox for the “localizing” the SDGs.
