To ensure that cities and local governments will play a critical role in the upcoming climate negotiations, a Climate Summit for Local Leaders is organised parallel to the 21st United Nations Conference on Climate Change (COP21) which is taking place from 30 November to 11 December 2015.
UCLG is working in the framework fo the Local Government Cimate Roadmap, facilitated by ICLEI. The main messages towards Member States include the need to start working on an actionplan to gengage local governments in climate change policies, supported by capacity building, finance and technology and to renew multilateral partnership partnerships to enhance and support local, low-carbon, resource efficient, climate resiliten action in the period towards 2020.
