To raise awareness on the SDG’s and to celebrate the fifth anniversary of the 2030 Agenda, the VVSG is organising for the third time in a row the Sustainable Municipality Week (18-25 September). All Flemish municipalities can participate on a voluntary basis. Last year, about 1 out of 3 municipalities joined the Week. We hope to reach the same number this year.
This new publication by VVSG highlights 40 examples of how your municipality can integrate SDGs into its international activities. This publication aims to inspire local governments, and by extension anyone engaging in international partnerships. It presents ideas and methods for the integration of the SDGs into international partnerships through awareness raising activities, policy exercises, work visits and by introducing them in your partnership programme.
In 2017 and 2018, VVSG published SDG articles in it’s monthly magazine ‘Lokaal’. Each month, one SDG was discussed and illustrated with 3 practical municipal examples: one on the international organisation of the local government, one on it’s service delivery, and one on international cooperation. These articles have been translated to English and are compiled in the document attached.
