Free FCM course on Gender-Responsive Budgeting for Local Governments

June 27, 2022

The Federation of Canadian Municipalities (FCM) is launching an online introduction course on Gender-Responsive Budgeting (GRB) for Local Governments. This course was developed as part of the FCM Inclusive Municipal Leadership Program in Tunisia, funded by Global Affairs Canada, in collaboration with other FCM international projects, as well as our program Canadian Women in Local Leadership.

The GRB course is an introduction to gender responsive budgeting, and is directed to municipal staff as well as elected officials. It aims to provide the basics for introducing a gender perspective into the budget cycle, including the ability to identify gaps and inequalities between men and women in the provision of services as well as in payroll management; to understand the causes of these discrepancies; and to consider corrective measures, or affirmative measures, to promote equality between men and women.

The course is free and available in English and French. It is composed of nine self-guided learning modules. Participants registered to the course who complete the final test successfully will receive a certificate of completion.

Please register here by entering your name, preferred language, and email. In the next two weeks we will contact you to provide details on how to access the course, which can be completed at your own pace.
