Around 35 representatives from CEMR member associations and PLATFORMA partners were present during the High Level Political Forum on Sustainable Development (HLPF) 2024 which was held from 8-17 July in New York, under the auspices of the Economic and Social Council.  

 

 

 

 

 

Among them were: 

  • Véronique Bertholle, PLATFORMA spokesperson, Vice Mayor on European and International Relations, City of Strasbourg (France) 

  • Francine Farrugia, member of CEMR-PLATFORMA Young Elected Officials Committee (YEOC), Local Councillor of Siggiewi (Malta) 

  • Clare Hart, President of Cités Unies France Crisis and Rehabilitation Group, Vice-President Montpellier Métropole 

  • Gail Macgregor, CEMR Spokesperson on SDGs and COSLA Spokesperson for Environment and Economy Leader of Dumfriesand Galloway Council, Scotland, UK

HLPF was the occasion for CEMR and PLATFORMA to launch their 7th report on the localisation of SDGs: “European Territories Localise the SDGs | The time for impact is running out” (available online in English and French, and in .pdf format in English and French). It gathers input from 46 associations representing 31 European countries. This report was officially presented on 11 July, during the 7th LRGs forum.

The next day, CEMR and PLATFORMA organised a Political breakfast meeting with the EU Delegation in New York which gathered over 40 participants. 

This year, HLPF 2024 will be followed by the Summit of the Future, on 22-23 September in New York, with an Action Weekend just before, dedicated to local and regional governments.
