In December, UCLG Africa, through its African Local Governments Academy (ALGA) and the Moroccan Association of Presidents of Communal Councils (AMPCC), through the Network of Locally Elected Women of Africa in Morocco (REFELA-Morocco), organized an international training seminar on the theme: "Gender Equality and Empowerment of Women and Girls for the Implementation of SDG 5 and the African Vision on Women's Rights", in Rabat.  38 women, representing Local Governments, Public Administration, Civil Society and the Community of Experts from Benin, Burkina Faso, Cameroon, Comoros, Côte d'Ivoire, Madagascar, Malawi, Mali, Morocco, and South Africa benefited from the training

Based on an active and participatory approach, the International Seminar alternated the theoretical input with practical exercises, group work and coaching, as well as institutional and cultural visits. During the five days of the seminar, various topics were presented, developed and discussed, including International and African trends on the Empowerment of Women and Girls; The implications of SDG 5 for the planning at local level; and the different actors and tools to empower women and girls, such as Networking and Gender Budgeting.
