Senior civil servants employed by a national Ministry in Egypt, Tunisia, Morocco and Jordan can apply for a Matra fellowship to participate in the Social Affairs and Employment training. In this blended learning programme offered by The Hague Academy in cooperation with PBLQ ROI (Dutch Institute for Public Administration) and CNV International, participants will discuss how economic growth can go hand in hand with social security reforms in their home countries. Employment strategies to reform the labour market and create more and better jobs will be discussed. Other questions that will be addressed are: How to increase coverage of social security subsidies such as pensions, unemployment insurance and disability benefits? And how to create more effective social safety nets for the poor and vulnerable? Application is open until 1 June 2015.
Senior civil servants and policy makers at (sub) national governments in Albania, Bosnia-Herzegovina, Kosovo, Macedonia, Montenegro, Serbia and Turkey are invited to apply for a Matra fellowship to participate in the Decentralisation training. In this course, you will learn more about the basic concepts of administrative, fiscal and political decentralisation, multilevel governance and accountability. Visits to the Netherlands’ ministries of Home Affairs, the Dutch association of local authorities and the municipality of The Hague are included in the training. Attention will also be paid to the European framework for Decentralisation, European regulations with an impact on regions and municipalities in Europe, EU-subsidies and institutions for cooperation between regional and local authorities in Europe. In addition, analytical skills will be practiced as well as working in teams, lobbying in Brussels and change management. Application is open until 2 August 2015.
Furthermore, from 2 June 2015 the next application round for Nuffic Fellowships opens. This time for the training courses on Conflict, Rule of Law and Local Security, Local Economic Development and Gender Responsive Governance.
