On November 14th and 15th, 2014 in the city of Delhi, India, this conference will be held with the aim of discussing the link between urban governance and the future of cities worldwide. LSE Cities, in partnership with the National Institute of Urban Affairs, have been organising conferences in this arena since 2005 in various cities such as New York, Shanghai, Mexico City, Johannesburg, and Berlin. It is expected that over 350 participants including policy makers, academics, business leaders, urban designers, architects, and representatives of NGOs and community groups wil attend the two day event.
Specific topics to be taken on at the conference include:
- Major governance challenges facing cities and strategies to cope with those challenges;
- Exploration of governance dynamics in cities such as Delhi, London, Tokyo, and Bogota;
- Analysis of the way urban governance shapes policy issues such as sustainable growth, innovative infrastructure, and social inclusion in cities.
