In December, UCLG Africa, through its African Local Governments Academy (ALGA) and the Moroccan Association of Presidents of Communal Councils (AMPCC), through the Network of Locally Elected Women of Africa in Morocco (REFELA-Morocco), organized an international training seminar on the theme: "Gender Equality and Empowerment of Women and Girls for the Implementation of SDG 5 and the African Vision on Women's Rights", in Rabat.

UCLG Peer Learning event on Urban Resilience and Disaster Risk Reduction in San Jose - 14-16 January 2020

UCLG, in partnership with FLACMA, CAMCAYCA, Costa Rica’s local government association “Union de Gobiernos Locales (UNGL)”, UN-Habitat and UNDRR, are organizing a 3-day peer learning in San Jose (Costa Rica) on Urban Resilience and Disaster Risk Reduction. The learning event will take place from 14/01/2020 – 16/01/2020 and is particularly targeted at local government associations as they play a multiplier role in the localization of the Sendai Framework.

The UCLG World Congress in November 2019 – feedback on CIB sessions?

2019 will see the 6th version of the UCLG world congress (11-15 November, Durban, South Africa). An important event for local government representatives from all around the world, which will see statutory meetings, as well as numerous side events and field visits. Last week, the Capacity and Institution Working Group has, together with its partners, sent in different proposals for sessions. You will find an overview below.

As you might recall, last years’ CIB annual meeting saw a discussion on monitoring and evaluation of programmes of CIB members. In that discussion, the idea arose to organize a peer evaluation for one or more of our programmes, in view of the mixed experiences with external evaluators.
