The first two weeks of July will be busy. The 5th UN High-level Political Forum (HLPF) (6 -17 July) will host an array of online debates, events and activities to take stock on the achievement made at global, national and local levels to achieve the SDGs. This year, a particular focus will be brought on making sure that the world can recovery swiftly from the COVID19 pandemic, using the framework of the 2030 Agenda – it will also analyse how progress on SDG implementation has been affected by the outbreak. Key dates to keep in your agendas include:

  • Wednesday 8 July: UCLG – UN HABITAT VLR Guides launch. 
  • Thursday 9 July from 16h30 to 18h00 (CEST): UN DESA High-level segment on “Bolstering Local Action to accelerate implementation” - more info on the agenda of this session will be shared with you shortly.
  • Friday 10 July (TBC): Local and Regional Governments Day, organised by the Global Taskforce 
  • Monday 13 July from 14h30 to 17h00 (CEST): Local and Regional Governments forum of the Global Taskforce. Concept note here and draft programme here.
  • Tuesday 14 July: LRG dialogue with the World Health Organisation.
  • Wednesday 15 July from 15h30 to 17h00 (CEST): PLATFORMA’s webinar on the SDGs: where we will also touch upon the consequences of the COVID19 on SDG localisation at EU and global level.
