The European Commission launched an Issues Paper on Local Authorities in Development; this consultation aims to prepare the Communication, which is expected to be published at the beginning of 2013. The Communication will guide the future EU Development programmes and the role given to local governments in these programmes.
Various regional consultations have taken place, organized in close cooperation with PLATFORMA. Members are still encouraged to develop their responses to the Issues Paper, in which the situation and challenges of local governments in development is analyzed.
