Within the framework of the Presidency of the International Association of Schools and Institutes of Administration (IASIA) assumed by UCLG Africa, through the Director of Development, Knowledge Management and ALGA, a Delegation of UCLG Africa took part in the 59th Conference of this Association, in Manila, Philippines, from 31 July to 4 August 2023. 

UCLG Africa currently holds the presidency of the International Association of Schools and Institutes of Administration and thus sent a Delegation to take part in the 59th Conference of IASIA, in Manila, the Philippines, from 31 July to 4 August 2023. This year’s conference theme was ”Building Better Futures of Governance towards Achieving the SDGs in a VUCA (Volatility, Uncertainty, Complexity, and Ambiguity) World”. Over 370 participants from 60 countries were present in Manila.

UCLG Africa organized several panels, as well as actively participated in the Plenary Session 5 on Digital Transformation at local level. During this session Dr Najat ZARROUK, Director of Development, Knowledge Management and ALGA, UCLG Africa, gave a presentation on  “UCLG Africa’s commitment to Digital Transformation at the sub-national level in Africa”. During this panel experiences in Digital Transformation were shared, as well as the challenges and bottlenecks to a successful dynamic in this framework.
