In the Building Inclusive Green Municipalities (BIGM) program two CIB members, the Federation of Canadian Municipalities (FCM) and the South African Local Government Association (SALGA), are closely working together on stimulating economic growth and modernizing South African infrastructure. BIGM supports SALGA with their member management processes, program development, revenue generation and knowledge management, monitoring and evaluation. Ultimately, the goal is for SALGA to implement municipal practices that support their citizens, particularly women and vulnerable groups.
In 2019, FCM shares their best practices regarding election readiness, particularly as a non-partisan organization. FCM and SALGA will exchange learnings in the area of post-election strategies, intergovernmental communications, and advocacy processes. Read more.
