The Global Fund for Cities Development (FMDV) has recently published a new document on urban funding in South America and was presented in Porto Alegre in November during the workshop "The future of urban investment in South America" organised by FMDV and UCLG.
The document focuses on innovative initiatives developed by different types of actors at the local, national and regional levels in their efforts to improve access to the necessary funding. The aim is to facilitate creative solutions for the implementation of urban development projects to local, regional and national authorities, in the current context marked by the economic crisis that makes urban funds hard to come by. These examples are developed through different topics: new economic and financial architectures for sustainable and endogenous development; migrations and development financing; sustainable resources, regaining the local tax resources and participative housing.
