PLATFORMA sent a press release concerning the adoption of a new Commission Communication on local and regional authorities in partner countries.
The Communication focuses on a number of issues that have been brought forward for several years by PLATFORMA. The issues are mainly related to decentralisation, the promoting of territorial approach to development, decentralised cooperation, building capacities of local and regional activities and the role of the associations of local authorities in partner countries.
PLATFORMA anticipates a horizontal effect on the European development policy through the new Communication. They also state that in the end they want to see this policy implemented in the field.
