On June 10th, 2014 in Singapore, local government officials assumed their important role in the World Cities Summit by taking part in the Mayor's Forum especially set up to bring mayors, city leaders, and urban partners together to discuss strategies for developing smart cities. There were over 130 mayors and local leaders present at the Mayor's Forum and the event. This was the Fourth World Cities Summit organised by UN-Habitat in conjunction with the Centre for Liveable Cities and the Urban Redevelopment Authority of Singapore, with the aim of creating solutions to the challenges of urban sustainability. Over 20.000 participants from 118 countries attended the Summit.
