Keti Luarasi: Empowering Communities Through Inclusive Leadership

September 13, 2024

Keti Luarasi, Deputy Mayor of the City of Tirana, Albania, is also a dedicated participant in the ICLD Women’s Political Leadership programme. Reflecting on her journey within the programme, Keti underscores how it has not only honed her skills but also ignited substantial positive changes within her community and organisation. “One of the most tangible outcomes has been the increased representation of women in decision-making processes within our community,” she says.

This achievement highlights her steadfast commitment to inclusivity and effective governance, ensuring that marginalized voices are heard and valued. In her organisational role, Keti has embraced the programme’s core principles of transparency and accountability. By fostering an environment where openness and accountability prevail, Keti has observed enhanced productivity and collaborative efforts towards shared goals. Reflecting on her personal growth through the programme, Keti values the supportive community she found among fellow participants and mentors.

“The connections I’ve made have been invaluable,” she emphasizes, “providing me with ongoing support and encouragement in my leadership journey.”

The mentorship component of the programme, including a study visit to a Swedish municipality, enriched Keti’s leadership journey.

“The experience broadened my perspective on governance, exposing me to innovative solutions that I’ve since applied in tackling local challenges. Since joining the programme, I’ve witnessed a remarkable transformation in my leadership approach,” she says.

Keti firmly believes that the programme aligns with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly those related to gender equality and inclusive governance. “Empowering women in political leadership positions directly contributes to achieving these global objectives,” she asserts. This alignment underscores the programme’s role in ensuring equitable representation and decision-making at all levels.“ Keti’s journey within the ICLD Women’s Leadership programme exemplifies the transformative impact of leadership development. Her dedication to inclusive governance and gender equality not only inspires but also drives tangible improvements in her community and beyond. Thanks to this programme, Keti continues to advocate for meaningful change, contributing to a more equitable and prosperous future for all!
