Last month, ICMA’s CityLinks program facilitated a local government capacity building workshop in Tanzania focused on climate change and coastal management. The workshop was led by experts from eThekwini Municipality, South Africa who provided an introduction to key principles of coastal engineering and a practical case study on coastal protection using an example from Dar es Salaam. Participants included directors, mayors, and chairpersons from Tanzania’s 168 local governments, as well as officials from other local governments in South Africa and Ghana.

The workshop was executed as part of the Durban-Dar es Salaam Climate Change Partnership in conjunction with the Durban Adaptation Charter (DAC) and the Association of Local Authorities of Tanzania (ALAT). You can follow along with all the latest CityLinks activities on the CityLinks blog.
