Throughout the year 2020, the African Local Governments Academy (ALGA) of UCLG-Africa continued its activities aimed at investing in the Human Capital of African Local Governments, in particular through the expansion of its Network of Institutes anchored in Africa and partners around the world, the promotion of quality standards in the field of training and capacity building targeting the local level, the design of a training offer that meets the needs and priorities of UCLG-Africa members and networks, the promotion of Human Resources at the local level through the Local Africa Human Resources Observatory, as well as the sharing of knowledge.

Since the inception of the state of emergency and containment due to the Covid-19 pandemic, ALGA has been forced to cancel or postpone several of its activities planned in its 2020 Action Plan, thereby shifting to the digitalization of its activities and investment and attention in online or remote activities.

Due to the new context as a result of the pandemic, a draft roadmap with reajustments made to the planned activities has been sent to the Secretary General.
