UCLG's Working Group on Territorial Prevention and Management of Crises is organizing his annual meeting, in partnership with the Geneva city hall on Monday 29 November. The meeting will gather representatives from the UCLG Working Group (local governments and associations of local authorities), NGOs, United Nations agencies and donors engaged in the current discussions about the evolution of the humanitarian system. Among other recommendations, the improvement of the coordination between humanitarian actors and local stakeholders has been recognized as a priority. The UCLG Working Group, created in 2014, advocates, and seeks to develop, initiatives to reinforce the role of local governments in risks and crisis management.

The meeting aims to provide a platform to exchange ideas on how to improve the coordination of all stakeholders in crisis situation and/or in fragile states. It will provide a chance to better showcase the role of local authorities in managing crises, as well as the solidarity among local authorities when a crisis occurs ànd some new strategies and potential political tools to improve interventions in urban areas when a crisis occurs.
