The sixty-fourth session of the Commission on the Status of Women (CSW64) will be held from 9 to 20 March 2020 at the United Nations Headquarters in New York, marking the 25th Anniversary of the adoption of the Beijing Declaration and Platform for Action (1995).
Although the space dedicated to local and regional authorities remains limited, March 2020 will be a crucial step towards the achievement of gender equality as it is a critical opportunity for UCLG to make the commitment of local and regional governments for equality and the empowerment of women visible on the international stage in order to achieve sustainable, democratic and peaceful societies for all communities.
A Local and Regional Governments Day for Gender Equality will be organized on the localization of the Beijing Declaration and Platform for Action.
