DCF Republic of Korea High-level Symposium

High-level Symposium on “Development cooperation for people and planet: What will it take?”in Incheon, DCF Republic of Korea 8-10 April, 2015

What will it take to put international development cooperation truly in the service of people and planet?

The Symposium in Incheon will advance the discussion on the role of development cooperation in implementing the post-2015 development agenda, at all levels, global, regional, national, subnational. The Symposium is the first high-level preparatory event for the 2016 DCF and will be co-organized by the Republic of Korea and UNDESA. It will engage up to 200 high-level experts from a wide range of stakeholders.

It will focus on how to bring together commitments on financing and other means of implementation from the Monterrey and Rio processes. This is essential to allow countries and other stakeholders to take an integrated approach to development cooperation, to ensure more robust monitoring and accountability for progress and to achieve better and more lasting development results.

In tackling such question, the Symposium should generate specific recommendations in the run-up to the Third International Conference on Financing for Development in Addis Ababa on 13-16 July 2015 and the post-2015 Summit at the United Nations in New York in September 2015.

Overall, the Symposium should contribute to more inclusive, evidence-based discussions on some of the challenging questions around financing and other means of implementation and the future of development cooperation post-2015.
