September 29, 2014

We are pleased to announce that the annual meeting of the Capacity and Institution Building (CIB) working group will be held in Cologne, Germany, from 29-30 September 2014.

This year’s meeting aims to be the high level technical event that ensures that members are being updated about all developments that are relevant for their work. This includes both an exchange of information among CIB members, but also external presentations from donors and international organizations about the policy changes in development cooperation priorities.

A draft agenda for the meeting can be found via this linkWe welcome any and all feedback or comments on this agenda from the members before making it final, so please do not hesitate to contact us with this as soon as possible. Please also note that for those attending, should you wish to organize a parallel session during the meeting, this is still possible and welcome. Please contact us via the CIB mailbox with these suggestions and requests.

Main topics for discussion will be:

•        Information exchange on latest developments, challenges and opportunities

•        Developments in donors attention for decentralization programmes

•        Development effectiveness and changing international relations

•        The UN post 2015 development agenda and Habitat III and the role of the CIB working group

•        Recommendations on local economic development and the role of local government in fragile states

Registration forms for the annual meeting of the CIB have already been sent out to the membership, but should you have not yet received one, please contact the CIB Working Group Secretariat: UCLG.CIB@VNG.NL.

In addition, as with last year’s meeting, this year we are again collecting information in order to facilitate exchange of information and sharing of experience in regards to Association Capacity Building (ACB) and Municipal International Cooperation (MIC) programmes. We accomplish this via the Compendium section of our website. Should your organisation have programmes to add, please do so via this link. Should any of the current entries need to be modified, please contact the CIB Working Group Secretariat.

We certainly hope to welcome all of you in Cologne and remain at your disposal for any question you may have.
