Local democracy and international solidarity are under stress. Local governments play a crucial role in international relations and programmes – how can we, as CIB Working Group, continue to raise awareness for the role and responsibilities of local governments in development cooperation, aid effectiveness and democracy? And how can we assure sufficient means for local governments, both for domestic challenges, as for international work?
In a couple of weeks only, the next CIB annual meeting will take place in Stockholm. We have already received 40 registrations from all around the world for this event, taking place on 19-20 June 2018. Last week, the Union of Municipalities of Turkey (UMT) hosted this year's CIB annual meeting.
